Draper Utah Short Sales

Short sales are properties where the borrower owes more on the home than they can get from the sale of it. During the boom years, many Draper UT Homes became artifically overvalued. Investors and speculators drove demand up for homes and thus prices increased. Since about September of 2007 prices have declined. Unless buyers during the boom put very large down payments down, they likely owe more than the property is worth.

When borrowers can't make their payments, and have negative equity, banks will often forgive a portion of the debt to allow the home to sell rather than foreclose.
